How do I fix static and crackling on passive speakers?

If you are experiencing crackling and static noises from your passive speakers, there are some possible causes and solutions you can try. Passive speakers are powered by an external amplifier, so you need to check both the speakers and the amp for any issues.
  1. Check the connections: Make sure the cables/wires connecting the speakers to the amp and the amp to the audio source are plugged in securely and not damaged. Loose or faulty connections can cause interference and distortion. You may need to replace the cables if they are worn out or broken.
  2. Move the speakers: Sometimes, other devices nearby can cause electrical interference that affects the speakers. Try moving the speakers away from any sources of interference, such as power outlets, routers, phones, microwaves, etc. You can also use shielded speakers and cables to reduce interference.
  3. Clean the speakers: Dust and debris can accumulate on the speaker cones and affect their performance. Use a soft brush to gently remove any dirt from the speakers. Be careful not to damage the cones or the wires inside.
  4. Adjust the audio settings: Check the audio settings on your device and make sure they are set correctly for your speakers. For example, you may need to adjust the volume, balance, equalizer, or sample rate. If the settings are too high or too low, they can cause distortion or clipping.
