How does Auto-Stop work?
You will find a switch on the back of your Fluance turntable, sliding this to the ON position will enable Auto-Stop.
Once the record ends, it can take up to 40 seconds, about 18 rotations for the platter to stop at 33 RPM. It can take up to 25 rotations at 45 RPM. This extended time is to allow the album to play in its entirety as some records contain audio in the run-out groove.
If you find the auto-stop doesn't engage, it may be the record itself. Depending on the size of the label and the design of the run-out groove, the stylus may not move far enough toward the spindle to trigger the auto-stop function. The best way to test this is by playing a few different records from different artists. On the other hand, you may find it stops too early on some records.
Over the years, not all records were pressed or cut the same. This means that some records will have grooves cut closer to the center of a record, and some will be cut further from the center.
The auto-stop function of the turntable is designed to stop playback approximately 2 inches from the center of the spindle to the stylus tip. If a record is cut closer to the label than this, it may slow down and stop before the end of the song. In some cases, you may hear a slight momentary slowdown which is the tonearm passing the trigger for auto-stop to engage. This distance will work with most records. If most records you play experience this, you may need to disable auto-stop.
