Why did the handle come off my cleaning brush?

The VB52 - Fluance Vinyl Record & Stylus Cleaning Kit features a removeable handle. This is designed to be removed and is not broken.

To reinstall it, align the small pegs on the metal body of the brush with the holes on the the inside of the handle
